District 1 Commissioner: Mike Nelson
Mike Nelson represents Bay County Board of County Commissioners, District 1.
Mike Nelson has been active in local government for more than 20 years. Before being elected to the Bay County Commission in November 2004, Mr. Nelson served for eight years as a Panama City Commissioner, from 1979-1987. He also served from 1988-1992 as a Bay County Commissioner in the District I seat. Additionally, Mr. Nelson has served on the Downtown Improvement Board, served as the first chairman of the Panama City-Bay County Metropolitan Planning Organization and was a member of the Northwest Florida Water Management District.
A financial consultant in Panama City, FL, Mr. Nelson obtained his bachelor of science degree in management from Florida State University and his associate degree from Gulf Coast Community College. A graduate of Panama City's Bay High School, he is married to wife Mary Anne Nelson. Mr. Nelson has a son, Michael, and stepchildren Cathy Christo, Jimmy Christo Jr., Paul and Chris Christo. He is also the grandfather of G.L. Hall and Palmer Christo.
